The Top 10 Therapist-Approved Menstrual Apps and Wearables for Tracking Your Cycle

We’ve all been there—you’re moving through your busy day when suddenly, you know that something’s off. You got your period.

A sudden menstruation surprise can leave you feeling annoyed, unprepared, and sometimes, yup, relieved. But your cycle doesn’t have to be a guessing game. Instead, it should be something that helps you understand your body better. That’s where period tracking comes in.

Maybe your periods have been irregular lately, and you’re noticing patterns you want to keep track of. Or perhaps you’re looking for a reliable way to monitor period symptoms so you can be better prepared each month. Or you might be gearing up to try for a baby and need an app that helps predict ovulation.

Whatever your reason, you might be looking for a period tracker online. Take it from me—today’s apps and wearables go far beyond basic tracking. They offer personalized insights, symptom logging, and reminders to help you feel more in tune with your body.

As a trusted Pelvic Health Therapist in southwest Michigan, I often work with patients looking to start tracking their cycle. So, here’s my list of 10 go-to menstrual apps and wearables I recommend.

1. Natural Cycles

More than a period tracker, Natural Cycles (NC°) uses personalized temperature data to provide an ovulation calendar and a daily fertility status. While most fertility tracking apps work on a 28-day menstrual cycle, NC° adapts to your unique cycle, even if it’s irregular, to better educate you about your ovulatory patterns, period symptoms, and fertility. Users can measure their temperature by wearing an Oura Ring (read more below) or Apple Watch (Series 8 or newer), or with an NC° Thermometer.

Details: Free as an in-store app download through the App Store and Google Play. Start your trial with a free demo mode before committing to a subscription. Pricing plans include a $119.99/year subscription (comes with free NC° thermometer) or a $14.99/month subscription. You can also get reimbursed for your NC° subscription, as U.S. users are now covered by insurance.

Natural Cycles is my personal favorite and what I use for my own perimenopause journey. I pair it with my Apple watch, but I have many clients who love using their Oura Ring and Natural Cycles.

2. Flo Period & Pregnancy Tracker

Flo refines its predictions the more you log, making it a top pick if your cycle doesn’t follow the typical 28-day pattern. Beyond just period and ovulation tracking, Flo offers a holistic health approach, letting you log period symptoms like mood swings, cramps, sleep, and more.

Its user-friendly design and customizable reminders help you manage your cycle, while its educational content—covering topics like menstrual health, fertility, and pregnancy—empowers you to take charge of your reproductive health.

Details: Free as an in-store app download through the App Store and Google Play. Sign up for a basic Flo account for free to use the period tracker online, log period symptoms, and more. Flo Premium subscription costs $39.99 per year or $11.49 per month. With a Premium subscription, you’ll receive accurate cycle predictions, learn about period symptom management, and get personalized daily insights.

3. Clue
